Role Overview

You will lead a team of backend and frontend developers, owning delivery from architecture through production, while staying hands-on with the code yourself.

This is engineering management for people who don’t want to put down the keyboard — equal parts technical leadership and people leadership. You’re expected to review code and unblock your engineers, and just as comfortably run 1:1s, plan sprints, and grow careers.

It’s also a chance to shape how the team builds, not just what gets built — championing AI-assisted development, raising the technical bar, and giving well-informed, technically grounded input into product direction, working closely with the company leadership.

And you won’t be doing this from behind the team alone. You’ll sit in on client conversations, propose technical solutions on the spot, and then translate what’s agreed into clear, actionable requirements your developers and QA can run with — which means getting to know our products in real depth, not just the systems behind them.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a engineering team spanning backend (Java/Spring Boot) and frontend (Vue.js) development

• Own end-to-end delivery for your team’s domain: architecture decisions, development, testing, and deployment

• Stay hands-on and pair with engineers on hard problems

• Drive the adoption of AI-assisted development practices (Cursor, Claude, and similar tools) within the team

• Implement and uphold CI/CD and DevOps best practices

• Balance new feature delivery with technical debt reduction and platform stability

• Lead the QA team to build quality in throughout the development lifecycle, not just verify it at the end

• Provide technically grounded input into product direction — flag feasibility, risks, and opportunities for improvement

• Own hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development for the team

• Build a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement

• Proactively propose technical improvements to the products, drawing on what you learn from clients and from the codebase itself

What We Are Looking For

• Strong, hands-on full-stack background — experience in writing and reviewing both backend (Java/Spring Boot) and frontend (Vue.js/TypeScript) code

• Proven experience leading or managing software engineers, with a genuine coaching and mentoring mindset

• Track record owning delivery across the full software development lifecycle

• Passion for AI-assisted engineering practices and modern development tooling

• Ability to balance people leadership with staying technically sharp and credible with the team

• Comfortable in front of clients — able to propose a technical solution on the spot, then translate it into requirements developers and QA can act on

• Genuine curiosity to learn our products in depth

• Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where priorities and systems are still evolving
