Infrastructure / SRE Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Infrastructure / SRE Engineer to take ownership of the reliability, security and automation of StrongPoint’s enterprise application infrastructure.

The role is focused primarily on Windows Server workloads running across Azure and dedicated infrastructure, including Active Directory, IIS and MSSQL-backed applications.

One of the key projects for your first 12 months will be an infrastructure in-sourcing programme, where we will migrate from an external managed-service provider to infrastructure operated directly by StrongPoint. You will be involved in planning and executing the migration and then taking ownership of the environment you help build.

What You Will Do

Infrastructure & Operations

• Operate and harden Windows Server environments across Azure and dedicated infrastructure
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, IIS, Hyper-V and/or VMware environments
• Support MSSQL-backed applications and production workloads
• Plan and execute server migrations, including lift-and-shift and re-platforming
• Decommission legacy infrastructure following successful migrations

Automation & DevOps

• Automate infrastructure and operational tasks using PowerShell
• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or similar tools
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
• Improve operational processes through automation and standardisation

Reliability & Security

• Own monitoring, alerting, patching, backup and disaster recovery for production systems
• Identify and resolve recurring infrastructure issues
• Apply security hardening and operational best practices
• Contribute to improving the reliability and resilience of production environments
• Help optimise Azure infrastructure costs through rightsizing, reservations and architecture improvements

Collaboration

• Work closely with engineering teams across Bulgaria, Lithuania and Sweden
• Collaborate with software engineers and other technical teams on infrastructure requirements
• Support teams in delivering reliable and scalable production environments
• Contribute to the development of infrastructure standards and practices within the growing Bulgarian engineering hub

What We Are Looking For

Must Have

• 5+ years of experience managing Windows Server environments in production
• Strong experience with Active Directory and Group Policy
• Hands-on experience with IIS
• Experience with Hyper-V and/or VMware
• Solid Azure experience, particularly IaaS, networking and Entra ID
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform
• Experience with CI/CD and Azure DevOps
• An SRE mindset: measure, automate and prevent recurring issues
• Strong English communication skills, written and verbal
• Based in Bulgaria, Sofia preferred
