SAP ABAP Developer

We’re looking for an experienced SAP ABAP Developer to support an international SAP logistics rollout, focused on SD and MM.

You will take ownership of ABAP development, integrations, troubleshooting, and performance optimization in an established SAP ERP/ECC on-premise environment – from turning functional requirements into robust technical solutions through to testing, go-live, and hypercare. The work is predominantly system-to-system.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain SD/MM solutions using ABAP Objects, BAdIs, user/customer exits, and the Enhancement Framework.
• Build classic ABAP solutions: ALV reports, mass-data programs, background jobs, forms, output processing, data conversions.
• Develop and troubleshoot integrations via IDocs (incl. extensions), ABAP proxies, RFC/BAPI, HTTP, and web services; Support SAP Integration Suite (CPI) and PI/PO.
• Monitor interfaces, IDocs, and workflows; ensure effective error handling and resolution.
• Debug complex end-to-end processes and perform cross-system root-cause analysis.
• Identify and implement runtime and database performance improvements.
• Support testing, cutover, go-live, and hypercare.
• Contribute to code reviews and documentation.

Requirements:

• 5+ years hands-on ABAP in SAP ERP/ECC on-premise.
• Strong OO ABAP and clean, maintainable, reusable code.
• Good understanding of SD and MM.
• Strong experience with BAdIs, exits, and the Enhancement Framework.
• Strong IDoc development and troubleshooting (message types, extensions, inbound/outbound).
• Integration experience: ABAP proxies, RFC/BAPI, HTTP, web services, plus CPI and/or PI/PO.
• Strong debugging and cross-system root-cause skills; performance analysis and optimisation experience.
• Familiarity with transport/release management, Jira, and SAP Solution Manager.
• Fluency in English.

Nice-to-haves, but not essential:

• ABAP Unit, ATC, and static code-quality checks.
• Knowledge of Logistics Execution, WM/EWM, shipping, or transportation.
• Experience in retail, e-commerce, or mail-order environments.
• German language skills.
