Project Description

The project centers around a high-scale, free-to-play social sportsbook platform designed for millions of users. Built on a microservices, event-driven architecture, it includes real-time user interactions, rewards systems, leaderboards, and gamified experiences. The backend team is responsible for ensuring system scalability, performance, and resilience, as well as delivering key business logic services and supporting features that power the mobile and web applications.

What You’ll Do

• Take full ownership of backend services from design through deployment and ongoing maintenance
• Develop scalable, high-performance distributed systems using Python and Django
• Architect services to handle millions of users with low latency and high availability
• Implement and manage robust APIs, data pipelines, Kafka-based event streams, and caching layers
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps teams to meet ambitious timelines
• Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and uphold coding standards
• Ensure system observability and reliability through logging, metrics, and tracing
• Optimize for performance and scalability under heavy load
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and test automation strategies
• Participate in on-call rotations to support production stability

Job Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience with Python
• Solid experience with Django and asynchronous programming (asyncio)
• Experience with Apache Kafka in production
• Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems
• Proficiency with SQL databases (especially PostgreSQL)
• Experience with Docker; Kubernetes is a plus
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and test automation
• Cloud experience with AWS (or other cloud providers)
• Knowledge of monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, or similar)
• Comfortable working in Agile development teams
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to code quality
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher
