Software Project Manager – BMW Project

Mission of the Role: Experienced Software technical leader adept at leading strategic program management, who drives complex sub-projects – Software – throughout the program lifecycle, ensuring successful execution, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction. This role works with the larger team to surpass customer expectations in cost, quality, and delivery of sub-projects while meeting financial objectives. Lead specific Software scope (sub-project) within a larger multidisciplinary project with a Program Management mindset having the responsibility to successfully deliver acting as the main Customer interface.

Key Objectives of this Role: 

• Monitor and track, ensuring plan availability and strategy over all the PM elements of its sub-project, e.g.;
• Timing plan & Strategy to meet the defined Visteon and Customer milestones;
• Process Compliance, e.g., Gate Deliverables, PAD, Vistway, ASPICE;
• RIOs & escalations:
  • Monitor the risks and ensure risks are mitigated properly;
  • Support escalations where external dependencies (e.g HW) are missing for the SW team;
  • Coordinate/review escalation action plan/feedback to OEM for SW-specific topics;
• Defects, Quality indicators;
• Budget:
  • Monitor/track staffing against Budget ensuring customer & Visteon targets are met.

Key Performance Indicators: 

• Program Execution and Monitoring: Lead, monitor progress, and track internal and external milestones, to ensure timely delivery, cost optimization, & quality outcomes including process compliance. Provides Software leadership to program teams promoting effective decision-making, leading structured approach to problem solving, and triggering preventive actions at the program level. Budget tracking.
• Customer Focus: Proactively building and maintaining strong relationships with Customers and Cross-Functional stakeholders as the primary contact along with SW PO for end-to-end program-related activities, using impactful communication across different functions. Be the primary contact for the Customer from a Program Management perspective.
• Change Management:  Overseeing/Monitoring/Tracking program changes and scope creep by effectively evaluating and communicating the impacts of changes on timelines, resources, and costs with all cross-functional stakeholders.
• Risk Management: Identifying, assessing, and mitigating program risks to minimize their impact on project timelines, budgets, and deliverables. Managing escalations (internal & external)
• Innovation and Technology Adoption: Identifying and evaluating emerging technologies, tools, and industry trends to enhance program management effectiveness and efficiency

• Define Project Scope and Milestones for Software Development;
• Lead Design and Development of Automotive Software;
• Ensure Compliance with Automotive Industry Standards;
• Manage Cross-Functional Collaboration;
• Oversee Prototype Development and Testing Phases;
• Ensure Software Quality and Reliability Standards;
• Document and Report Project Progress to Stakeholders;
• Drive Continuous Improvement in Software Processes.

Qualification, Experience, and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in the Software area;
• Several years of professional experience in program & project management, (min 5 years) including at least six years in the automotive industry;
• Experience in leading bigger development teams located in different countries;
• Know-how in project management (ideally PRINCE / PMP);
• Excellent understanding of development and production processes within the automotive industry, with experience in Software (2+ projects completed);
• Leadership, entrepreneurial thinking, and assertiveness;
• High level of autonomy and accountability;
• Strong project management discipline – Planning & Execution, Communication, Strategy;
• Strong communication skills, high customer orientation, and team spirit;
• Analytical-structured expertise;
• Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Project + JIRA;
• Fluent in English.
