Mission of the Role: The MDO Technical Quote Leader is responsible for leading new business pursuits/quotes for the Display product line and coordinating with all Display Product Line functions (Customer Regional Engineering, Mechanical, Display & Lens teams, Program & Commodity Purchasing and Manufacturing) and lead & coordinate associated internal engineering activities. Key Objectives of this Role:  The MDO Technical Quote Leader is responsible for leading new business pursuits/quotes for the Display product line and coordinate with all Display Product Line functions (Customer Regional Engineering, Mechanical, Display & Lens teams, Program & Commodity Purchasing and Manufacturing) and lead & coordinate associated internal engineering activities.

Typical Duties: 

• Technical lead of Display engineering activities for Customer RFIs & Quotations: o Lead multi-functional global engineering internal team o Establish & direct engineering team supporting pursuits/quotes within the Displays Product Line.

Key Objectives of this Role:

• Lead multi-functional global engineering internal team;
• Establish & direct engineering team supporting pursuits/quotes within the Displays Product Line;
• Coordinate technical deliverables to support quote timeline;
• Drive review of Display, Mechanical, and Optical requirements through the engineering team. Ensure all assumptions & exceptions are captured and compliance sheets are developed for high-level items such as TFTs, lenses, etc.;
• Drive the development of optimal/consistent designs. Work with the team to review & optimize BOM cost. Drive identification of VA/VE and design re-use opportunities;
• Quote documentation: ensuring timely completion of quote documentation such as customer TDRs, BOMs, Design and engineering development assumptions, Manufacturing assumptions, Engineering inputs (effort & costs), and program delivery timeline;
• Work with Product Management & commercial team to derive cost targets and perform read-across/walks from other quotes to triangulate;
• Identify long lead items like supplier quotes and kick those activities off ahead of RFx.;
• Work with Manufacturing and purchasing to determine & align on make/buy strategy early in the RFx process or pre-RFx;
• Work with Purchasing to review supplier quotes and triangulate with similar designs;
• Work with Manufacturing involving Displays Technology Group to ensure we have an optimized assembly process and manufacturing cost;
• Ensure process compliance during the quote process and drive discipline within the team to meet quote deadlines.

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

Key experience required:

• Years of Experience: 3+ years of Automotive Display product experience or similar;
• Degree Strongly Preferred: Bachelor of Science (minimum), in Mechanical, Displays, or Electronic Engineering (EE), or a related field with equivalent experience.

Desired Competencies/Experience:

• Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
• Flexibility to support regions/countries in different time zones;
• Good communication skills; verbal and written with global cultural sensitivity;
• Strong presentation skills;
• Ability to understand, at a high level mechanical, display design, electronics & associated implementation;
• Good MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint);
• Good communication skills especially with Customers;
• Ability to work within a constrained deadline (quotes are tight and time-bound);
• Ability to work closely with suppliers for part selections and negotiations;
• A Plus – deep understanding of displays & touch technology;
• A Plus – deep understanding of commercial/business/financial measurement (NPV, IRR, EBIT, etc.);
• Self-motivated with the ability to lead a global team toward a common goal.

Special Requirements (i.e. overtime, travel, etc.): Domestic and international travel to internal and customer locations may be required (~5-10%).

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Associate Manager of the Display Quote team.
