    The Cyber Security Engineer has full lifecycle responsibility for information security within a defined set of security knowledge branches (host security, applications security, network security, development security, operations security and/or physical security). Ensures that all security risks for their assigned areas are identified, evaluated and properly addressed as part of the global information security risk management program. The role directly impacts the success of short term and strategic security goals. Works independently under limited supervision and may serve as a liaison to other technology departments.

    Essential Functions – Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Evaluate IT-related systems and processes, document security observations and produce reports with specific recommendations based on the results of these findings.
    • Recommend, deploy and maintain security tools and services throughout the company to identify, analyze and report risks across a broad spectrum of information security areas.
    • Perform cyber-incident investigations and collect evidence. Collaborate with business and technical professionals to determine root cause and provide recommendations to reduce future occurrences. Perform “Quality Checks” on investigations performed by others. Provide assistance to external forensic investigators as necessary.
    • Will have some accountability for security vendor/supplier performance, including contracts and payments and comparing overall value versus competitors
    • Provide security expertise, facilitate group discussions, and resolve conflicting viewpoints as part of a small team of security engineers who are jointly responsible for six branches of security knowledge (“security disciplines”):
    • Host Security: servers, workstations, devices, and peripherals (in all formats, including actual/physical, virtualized, and IaaS/cloud hosted)
    • Application Security: includes commercial software products, SaaS/cloud products custom-developed software, databases, published services and APIs
    • Network Security: wired and wireless, firewalls, encryption, DNS, ports, protocols, perimeter defense, trust zones, intrusion detection and prevention, filtering
    • Development Security: process security including custom development, scripting, automation and orchestration, code management, and PaaS/cloud platforms
    • Operations Security: process security including access, auditability, baseline configuration, scanning, change detection, resiliency, and incident response
    • Physical Security: protection and monitoring of infrastructure, safeguarding property or devices, can also include disaster recovery, safety and privacy


    Required Qualifications:

    • 3+ years admin-level or expert-level experience in two or more branches of security knowledge (host security, applications security, network security, development security, operations security and/or physical security)
    • 1-2 years’ direct technical experience (development, operations, or administration) with Amazon Web Services (AWS), GCP (Google Cloud), and/or Microsoft Azure platforms, with a focus on Kubernetes orchestration, serverless infrastructure, and microservices architecture
    • 1-2 years’ experience with agile development methodology (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe, etc.)
    • 1-2 years’ experience working in an environment or on a team that utilizes DevOps concepts, such as CI+CD (continuous integration, continuous delivery), IaC (infrastructure as code), and deployment automation
    • 1-2 years’ experience working in an environment or on a team that utilizes deployment orchestration, automation, and configuration management tools (Jenkins, Puppet, Chef, CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible)
    • Flexible and cool under pressure. Ideal candidate will be comfortable with managing/balancing multiple priorities, negotiating commitments, and proactively communicating if commitment dates are in jeopardy and need to be adjusted
    • Ability to lead multicultural, globally distributed project teams; able to communicate with other project team members and support project team tasks in additional to personal tasks
    • Must maintain high ethical standards and exhibit a strong sense of professional integrity and personal honesty, due to the nature of the work performed in this role

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working with cloud security and governance tools, including cloud access security brokers (CASBs), security information and event monitoring (SIEM), and intrusion detection and response (IDR) is preferred.
    • Experience migrating on-premises servers and services to the cloud, working in hybrid cloud environments, and server virtualization technologies is preferred.
    • Familiarity with and experience using secure coding tools and practices is a plus.
    • Architecture certification (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Microsoft Azure Architect, GCP Cloud Architect Certification) or focused security certification (example: CEH, SSCP, CCSP, CCNA) is preferred; as an option, candidate must be willing to study and pass a focused security certification exam within 24 months of accepting position.
    • 4+ years admin-level or expert-level experience in three or more branches of security knowledge (host security, applications security, network security, development security, operations security and/or physical security) is a definite plus.
    • Ideal candidate will be an advanced technology generalist with experience across a wide variety of products. We seek a continuous learner and excellent communicator who appreciates a challenge and is comfortable working with new technologies or in new areas that require experimentation and rapid problem solving (fast-paced, startup environment).
    • Strong aptitude for rebuilding & enhancing trust relationships with IT and business stakeholders at all levels of the corporation, as well as external client organizations
    • Fast learner, able to find your way around in new systems, a quizzical mind, able to learn using interviews, observation, research, and self-study to quickly figure out how things work
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience, or demonstrated proficiency
    • Knowledge of ServiceSource operations (business or technology) is a definite plus.

    Uninterrupted home – based internet is required for this role.

    • Applicants should have sufficient internet access in their homes to attend and host video calls, as well as perform essential functions of the role which include downloading and uploading of large files to shared network drives.
    • In general, we have found that a minimum bandwidth speed of 20mbps is essential.
