About the role

As an IT Engineer in our team, you will work on the development of the IT infrastructure in close partnership with all functions of the organization.

Ideally, you can tick at least three of the following boxes

• DevOps
• Systems architecture
• Linux systems administration (LVM, NFS)
• Linux command line tools (bash, awk, sed)
• kubernetes
• software development
• IP networking
• cloud infrastructure
• systems hardening
• IT compliance (e.g. ISO 27001, FDA 21 CFR Part 11)

We don’t expect you to know all of the technologies that we currently use. Far more important is your mindset:

Some Recent projects – to give you an idea of what you might be tackling:

• write a Google Apps Script to automatically format Google Docs document (JavaScript)
• automatically generate Asana tasks from emails (JavaScript, REST)
• assess a possible alternative cloud provider’s offering and make a recommendation to the CEO
• integrate the snakemake rules engine with Kubernetes containers accessing data on a network file server (snakemake, bash, awk, sed, NFS, kubectl, yml)
• implement project based billing of cluster and storage usage (SQL, Google Sheets, Google Big Query, Google Data Studio, Log routing, bash, awk, sed)
• write an SOP for data transfer from external partners (Google Docs)
• write a simple CRUD application for requirements and risk management (Groovy, HTML, CSS, Grails, bash, Postgresql, kubernetes, DNS)
• VM systems patching (Ansible)
• resize VMs
• cron script to switch off servers when idle (VM labelling, cron, bash)
• replicate cloud git repositories to a separate platform (Google cloud repository)
• analyse phishing attempts (whois, JavaScript)
• create new Google groups to reflect organizational changes (Google Admin)
• document your work (Google Sites, Google Docs, markup)
• reorganize storage volumes (LVM, Linux, bash)
• write git hooks to prevent pollution of repositories (git, bash)
