Mid/Senior Software Engineer (Ruby/Clojure)

THE ROLE:

This role sits within the Customer Experience team in US Engineering. The drivers behind our platform – brilliant people working together to create, code, and build the next game-changing tech to disrupt the financial services industry.

We are focused on using Back End technology in an event-driven and scalable architecture to provide the best experience for our borrowers and investors. We are doing this using Clojure, Kafka, AWS, Ruby/Rails, and Postgres. We work in small agile teams using a number of best practices including continuous integration (Circle CI), TDD, and pairing.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO SOMETHING BIG:

• Collaborating as part of an agile cross-functional team
• Performing hands-on technical implementation
• Working closely with product and principal engineers to automate business processes
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to less experienced engineers on the team
• Keep up to date with technological enhancements and seek how to introduce pertinent new features into Funding Circle’s platform in a pragmatic way
• Supporting our production systems

OUR IDEAL TEAMMATE HAS/IS:

• An experienced senior in Back End Engineering
• Highly experienced with either Clojure or Ruby
• Knowledge of BDD, TDD and CI/CD
• Able to lead and influence architectural decisions
• Strong fundamental programming skills (data structures, algorithms)
• Experienced in working with a product team as well as wider stakeholders to build a deep understanding within the domain
• Experienced working with distributed systems and knowledgeable in Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum or Kanban)
• An interest or experience in any of Functional Programming, Distributed Systems or Event-Driven Architectures
