About the team:

The role:

As a data scientist at PwC, you will work with other data scientists, data engineers, machine learning engineers, designers and project managers on interdisciplinary projects using mathematics, statistics and machine learning to derive structure and knowledge from raw data across various industry sectors.

Duties and responsibilities:

• You will work in multi-disciplinary environments harnessing data to provide real-world impact for organizations globally.
• You will influence many of the recommendations our clients need to positively change their businesses and enhance performance.
• You will work with data from diverse structured and unstructured data sources in both batch and streaming modes. You will work with consultants, clients or internal teams to prepare complex data analyses and models that help solve client problems and deliver significant measurable impact. Often you’ll manage the entire analytical process – from outlining the type of solution through implementation, interpretation of results and transferring capabilities to the client or colleagues.
• Additionally, you will constructively discuss your findings in collaboration with consultants and clients while always looking for the best solution. Working on projects and exchanging experiences with your colleagues means you will face new intellectual challenges on a daily basis while continuously building your methodological knowledge and skills.

• Skills & experience:
  

• Graduate / postgraduate or Ph.D. degree in computer science, engineering, applied mathematics, quantitative social sciences or related field
• 5+ years of professional experience in programming (focus on machine learning) in Python; experience applied to business problems; knowledge in SPSS, SAS, Ruby, Hadoop is a plus
• Experience working in industries like financial services, retail, and leisure and hospitality is a plus
• Fluency in analytic/database software and languages such as Python, R, SQL, SPSS, etc.
• Hands-on experience of machine learning algorithms such as random forest, support vector machines, gradient boosting, Naïve Bayes, etc. and neural net/deep learning algorithms
• Exposure to ML Ops, AWS, GCP, GitHub, Docker, is a plus
• Excellent problem-solving and quantitative skills, including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions
• Proven leadership with the ability to inspire others, build strong relationships, and create true followership, result-driven achievers
• Strong people skills, team-orientation, and a professional attitude;
