At Ocado Technology we design and build the platform that powers Ocado, the world’s largest online-only grocery retailer. Our platform supports a wide range of services-shopping applications and websites, fulfilment solutions (automated warehouses, store pick solutions), back-office systems and delivery solutions, all crafted by our passionate team of software engineers.

Our product

In-Store Fulfilment gives retailers the option to pick and deliver customers’ orders from their existing stores. It is currently powering a large-scale operation spanning across USA, UK, France, Canada, Sweden and more.

Our system consists of a backend responsible for planning and orchestrating the fulfilment of customer orders, a mobile app that enables in-store personnel to execute the operations and a web application that provides improved visibility to warehouse processes and empowers store managers to make informed decisions about their operations.

Our team is responsible for the development of Store Operations. The management dashboard application that store managers use to keep track of and influence the progress of planned, ongoing and future work within the store. We are working closely with our product manager and UX designer to ensure our stores deliver the optimal performance.

• Participate in and improve our end-to-end software development cycle
• Write high quality code using the appropriate technologies and techniques
• Give and receive feedback through code reviews
• Write unit, integration, performance, etc. tests to ensure quality
• Gather data and make data-driven decisions
• Experiment with new ideas to improve our product
• Mentor/coach other members in the team

Requirements:

• Good knowledge of JavaScript, HTML and CSS
• Experience developing REST based web applications
• Experience implementing responsive web pages
• Demonstrable problem-solving skills
• A passion for great user interfacesBonus points:
  • Experience with UI frameworks and technologies beyond basic JS/HTML/CSS especially React and Redux
  • Experience working with a design system
  • Knowledge or experience of Typescript
  • Knowledge or experience of Cypress
  • Knowledge or experience of UX or UI design
  • Knowledge of AWS/Cloud environments
