Netea builds a leading international learning platform (Lecturio) for medical video education, serving students as well as universities and medical institutions. We have hundreds of corporate and educational clients around the world as well as millions of end-users. The sun never sets for our applications – people all over the globe create continuous usage loads. We develop and run a high-stakes environment in which universities and companies run tests and certification programs. We focus the learning experience around core principles of Learning Science and the system adaptively guides the users.

We have been developing and publishing Android applications since 2013. The main applications serve our products Lecturio Medical Education (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.lecturio.android.LecturioMed) and Lecturio Nursing (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.lecturio.android.nursing). Furthermore, we have published over 100 white label applications  for various companies and educational institutions around the globe.

We are looking for an experienced Android developer to join our team and drive the continued evolution of our Android applications through leadership and technical expertise.

About the Role

As an Android Tech Lead, you will play a key role in guiding the technical direction of our Android applications and the upcoming Kotlin Multiplatform migration.
You will collaborate closely with our CTO and Product Managers.

Skills and Qualifications

Independent Thinking and Execution:

• he ideal candidate will possess the ability to critically evaluate requirements, formulate comprehensive technical plans, and consistently align their coding efforts with high-level architectural strategies.

Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in native Android app development is required, coupled with expert proficiency in the Android development frameworks (Kotlin, SDK, IDE, paradigms).

Communication Skills: 

• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, to understand requirements, and articulate technical concepts.

Collaborative Spirit:

• A strong team player who actively shares ideas and embraces diverse perspectives. While expertise is highly valued and decisions will be respected, a collaborative approach is essential.

Accountability: 

• Proactive foresight in defining expected outcomes, timelines, and effort. The candidate will be expected to communicate any changes to estimates promptly and take full ownership of achieving their objectives.

Availability:

• Consistent availability to collaborate with other team members. This includes adherence to established meeting routines and active participation in asynchronous communication channels (email, instant messaging).

Integration Skills:

• The successful candidate will be responsible for integrating their work into existing Android applications, which feature a well-defined modular software architecture, established libraries, and workflows. A ground-up rebuild is not within the scope of this role.

Leadership Potential: 

• Demonstrated ability to lead a small team and effectively manage technical projects.

Technical Stack

• Jetpack Compose
• Ktor + Coroutines
• JSON based RESTful API communication
• Kotlin Multiplatform (high importance)

Familiarity with coding agents such as Cursor, Claude Code, and OpenAI Codex is highly valued.

Key Project

The initial focus will be to unify our iOS and Android applications into a cohesive Kotlin Multiplatform codebase.
