AWS Node.js Backend Engineer

Hight.io is seeking a highly skilled and motivated AWS Node.js Backend Engineer to join our software development team in Sofia. As a key contributor, you will design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable web applications, SaaS products and APIs using the Node.js framework on AWS. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, designers, product managers, and stakeholders, to deliver top-notch software solutions that meet industry standards and exceed client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Back-End Development: Build and maintain robust back-end applications that power our web and mobile platforms, focusing on scalability, efficiency, and reliability.
• API Design and Integration: Develop and implement scalable and efficient APIs, including integrating third-party APIs into our Node.js applications.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Utilize AWS services (such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, and serverless architecture) to deploy and manage cloud-based applications.
• Code Quality and Best Practices: Write efficient, transparent, and well-documented code following industry best practices and coding standards. Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to optimize performance.
• Collaboration: Work closely with designers, stakeholders, and product owners to define, design, and implement new features in existing software solutions.
• Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify risks and failure modes early in the development lifecycle and develop Proofs of Concept (POCs) to mitigate these risks.
• Performance Optimization: Participate in performance optimization and tuning of existing Node.js applications, ensuring adherence to privacy and security standards.
• Continuous Learning: Stay updated with emerging technologies and trends in Node.js development, cloud infrastructure, and software engineering best practices.

Qualifications/Experience:

• 3+ years of experience as a backend or full-stack developer, with a strong focus on Node.js.
• Proficiency with AWS services, including Lambda, API Gateway, S3, EC2 and serverless architecture.
• Experience with databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and ORM libraries like Sequelize.
• Familiarity with web development frameworks like Express.js and front-end technologies such as React.js.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and DevOps principles.

Technical Skills:

• Mastery of JavaScript/TypeScript and modern ES6+ syntax.
• Experience with event-driven architecture and tools like GraphQL, AWS Kinesis, and SNS/SQS.
• Knowledge of Oracle ERP solutions such as Netsuite or JD Edwards is a bonus.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Certifications:

• Relevant certification in Node.js or AWS is highly preferred.

• Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and communication skills. Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
