Senior Software Engineer (Node.js/ TypeScript)

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll play a hands-on role building and operating scalable, cloud-native systems in a highly collaborative environment. You’ll work across the full software lifecycle, contribute to critical platform capabilities, and help shape engineering best practices as the organisation scales.

What You’ll Do

• Build and Operate Backend/Fullstack Services
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support reliable backend services using TypeScript, JavaScript, and Node.js, with a strong focus on scalability and resilience.
• Work in Cross-Functional Product Squads
• Collaborate daily with engineers, QA, product managers, and operational teams in a domain-aligned, fast-moving Agile environment.
• Develop Event-Driven Systems
• Build and maintain services within a complex, event-driven architecture using AWS messaging services.
• Own Quality and Reliability
• Implement strong quality controls across the testing pyramid, write thorough unit tests, and ensure systems are observable, well-documented, and production-ready.
• Improve How the Team Builds Software
• Contribute to software specifications, documentation, and continuous improvement of engineering processes and best practices to support growth and scale.

Qualifications

Must-Have

• Strong backend development experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, and Node.js
• Hands-on experience building and operating production systems
• Experience with AWS, particularly serverless and messaging services
• Strong understanding of testing practices, code quality, and reliability
• Experience working in Agile Scrum teams
• Excellent communication skills

Nice-to-Have

• Full-stack experience (React, Next.js, or .NET)
• Experience with MongoDB or other document databases
• Background in event-driven or distributed systems
• Experience in regulated, financial, or wealth management environments

Interview Process

Interviewing is a two-way process, and transparency is key. You can expect:

• Talent Screen – 20-minute introductory call
• Soft Sklills Interview – 30 minute call with a talent partner
• Technical Loop – ~2.5 hours total, including:
  – System design
  – Hiring manager & cultural fit interview
  – TypeScript code review (prep guide provided)
