Senior DevOps Engineer

Overview of the role:

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our agile Digital Marketing team. We are seeking someone who can design, automate, build and operate modern digital service platforms in hybrid environments such as VMware, Google Cloud and AWS.

This role follows a hybrid approach to working, allowing you to combine working from home with working in our modern offices. These discussions are between you and your manager to find the best pattern for you both, while recognising that quality time together is essential for keeping us mission-aligned.

What you’ll do:

As Senior DevOps Engineer, you will work as part of the team that manages and delivers Marketing Software Development projects and helps to ensure availability of key DevOps services.

You will help automate and streamline our operations and processes. You’ll support building and maintaining tools for deployment, monitoring and operations. You’ll troubleshoot and resolve issues in our Dev, QA, UAT and Production environments for a wide range of projects.

It’s a fast-paced environment so it is important for you to make sound, reasoned decisions. You’ll do this whilst learning about new technologies and approaches, with dedicated colleagues that will help you to learn, develop and grow.

What you’ll bring:

As a Senior DevOps Engineer you have extensive working experience in an IT infrastructure role with strong background in Linux and Cloud administration. Open source technologies are something you are interested in and you have used wide variety of such tools. You have experience with server virtualization and software defined networking. You were involved in planning deployments and improvements to CI/CD pipelines and have strong experience with Docker and container orchestration eco-systems such as Kubernetes. You were exposed to all aspects of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and familiar with development methodologies. You implemented Infrastructure as a Code delivery pipelines using Terraform, Jenkins, Git, Artifactory or similar tools.

Some of your experience is focused on coding and scripting (mostly Bash, Python, Java, ). You are familiar with web servers and load balancers. Also, you have a solid knowledge in networking, HTTP/S protocol, public traffic management and processing. You are experienced with monitoring tools and performance testing.

We try to follow the best methodologies and practices for running highly-available systems and your input will be used for any implementations as well as for improvement of existing systems. You are a self-starter with the ability to make progress with minimal supervision. In this position you’ll have to show your good diplomacy skills and the ability to collaborate closely with technical and product teams. You are able to work under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. As a team, we are results oriented and rely on good communication to achieve success.

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

• consistent track record in automating the build process and deployments in virtual and AWS Production and various Non-Production environments (GCP would be considered as a plus).
• You will be highly proficient working with business collaborators and directing project teams and will have direct experience of a range of Build and Deployment Automation solutions.

You have 4+ years of experience or exposure to the following technologies:

• Public cloud services (AWS, GCP would be considered as a plus)
• Infrastructure as code (Terraform)
• AWS services – EC2, S3, ELB, Elastic Kubernetes Service, Route53, CloudFront, etc.
• API Management – Kong Gateway would be considered as a strong advantage
• Build systems (Apache Ant/Mode/Maven)
• CICD pipelines with Jenkins. Spinnaker, Harness, ArgoCD a plus.
• GitHub Actions (would be considered as a strong advantage)
• Proven experience in implementing DevSecOps practices and integrating security tools within CI/CD pipelines
• Git and versioning software
• Middleware web / application servers (Tomcat, Jboss)
• Linux management and troubleshooting
• Configuration management systems (SaltStack, Ansible, Helm)
• Monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana
• Elasticsearch, Kibana, Beats & Logstash
• Development experience in any scripting or high-level OOP language
