    The Role Overview

    We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Product Manager in one of the FT’s most critical and exciting platform areas – Content & Metadata.

    You will be responsible for a growing portfolio of platform capabilities and services that enables the publishing, annotating, and ultimately the discoverability of FT’s award winning content, as well as a portfolio of API products directly used by our B2B customers. These are fundamental parts of the FT’s digital product offering.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Take stock of the portfolio and work with your colleagues, stakeholders, and users to build and communicate a roadmap for it
    • Identify and analyse sometimes highly ambiguous user needs and objectives and turn them into clear and concise product requirements and specifications
    • Prioritise the new product development based on strategic value, user impact, and resource availability and be able to assess and react confidently to changes
    • Build clear hypotheses for new experiments and launches and define corresponding metrics and KPIs to assess their achievement
    • Take ownership of the quality of the products
    • Constantly assess the state of the product portfolio and identify opportunities for simplification and decommissioning
    • Be the champion of your team and domain across the whole FT

    Required Experience


    • Significant product management experience with a track record of managing successful products that are technical in nature – used by engineers and software systems
    • Experience, knowledge, and interest in data technologies – more specifically, graph and NoSql databases, metadata management
    • Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to orient yourself and others in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
    • Metrics-driven, with previous experience in a culture of data-and fact-based decision-making
    • Proven record of delivering products through collaboration with stakeholders and technical teams and improving key business metrics as a result
    • Experience with producing strong business requirements and justifications
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Developed and proven influencing and negotiation skills
    • Confident leading meetings and workshops
    • Experience working in an Agile environment including as a product owner


    • Knowledge of the media industry and of how large media companies operate
