Reporting into the Technical Lead for Data, the Data Engineer role plays a key part in ensuring Costa’s data platforms are fit for purpose, performant, and deliver data to the business at the right time and at the right frequency. You’ll be working intricately with the Microsoft data technology stack to handle data movements from a variety of systems and integrations, ensuring that Costa knows what data we have at any time, and enabling us to make consistent data-driven decisions.

What you’ll do

Being a Data Engineer is your chance to join our exciting hub in Sofia – which means you’ll be:

Engaging with Delivery Managers, Product Owners and the Technical Lead for Data to understand the expected behaviours of data platform functionality, and to design & develop to these requirements as appropriate

Work closely as part of a wider energised and motivated data platform technical team to deliver at pace, supporting Costa’s data platform needs

Work closely with any testing team to ensure timely resolution of any issues discovered

Building a data platform that is designed for the future, enabling growth and ease of expansion, using industry best practices, and aligning with common & reusable patterns

Proactively suggesting opportunities to leverage new technologies to support the growth of Costa, future-proofing us for our continued global expansion

Involved in the documenting, support and maintenance of custom frameworks used for data processing

Who you are

It’s your unique ingredients we’re interested in:

Demonstrable experience in using Databricks, Azure Data Factory and other current Microsoft data technologies to deliver high-quality data platforms

Experience using Azure DevOps and similar tools to develop and deploy changes in an agile fashion

Some experience transitioning legacy-style integrations (flat file / batch / similar) to more real-time API / event-based operations would be advantageous

Knowledge of data cataloguing and integrations as appropriate with Microsoft data tooling

Experience working in an Agile delivery model, in a fast-paced environment

Base Salary: 34,976 – 48,092 EUR

Base pay offered may vary depending on geography, job-related knowledge, experience and skills.

Location – Sofia – Hybrid

The role will be hybrid model with the expectation of being in the Sofia office 2-3 days per week as required. Some international travel may also be required on up to a quarterly basis.
