Project Description

The team is focused on developing high-performance, scalable, and reliable backend systems that support the company’s extensive consumer-facing platform. You will primarily be working within the Java ecosystem while contributing to services and systems built in Python as well. The work includes building microservices, optimizing performance, ensuring high availability, and integrating event-driven architectures. The specific team also interacts with other components of the ecosystem, occasionally contributing to Python-based services (estimated 20% of the role). This hybrid backend work provides an exciting opportunity for engineers who enjoy working across different stacks and technologies.

What You’ll Do

• Design, implement, deliver, and test scalable, fault-tolerant backend services using Java;
• Write clean, performant, maintainable code and conduct peer reviews;
• Maintain and monitor applications to ensure high performance and availability;
• Contribute to microservice architecture design and implementation;
• Participate in tool and technology evaluation and adoption;
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define technical requirements and deliver product features;
• Work with stakeholders to ensure customer experience;
• Contribute to backlog refinement, technical roadmap planning, and team process improvements;
• Occasionally work with Python-based services (up to ~20% of tasks) and be open to learning and contributing to that stack;

Job Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building scalable, consumer-facing applications;
• Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot in a microservices architecture;
• Good understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices;
• Hands-on experience with AWS or similar cloud-based environments;
• Proficient with automated testing frameworks and practices (JUnit, Mockito, performance testing);
• Strong foundation in data structures and algorithms;
• Experience building and maintaining distributed systems with high availability and fault tolerance;
• Comfortable with Docker and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Spinnaker, Gradle);
• Experience modeling system performance and resource requirements;
• Willingness to work with Python (20% of work) or past experience with Python is a strong plus;
• Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and problem-solving mindset;
• Excellent communication skills and team collaboration;
• English level: B2+

Nice To Have

• Experience with Cassandra or similar NoSQL databases;
• Prior experience with e-commerce or food-tech platforms;
• Experience contributing to observability tools and practices;
• Interest in working on both Java and Python backend systems;
