What Are You Going to Do?

We are looking for an experienced Java Team Lead to guide and grow a development team working on business-critical backend systems in the eMobility domain for a renowned German sports car manufacturer. This role combines hands-on backend development with technical leadership, team coordination, and mentoring. You’ll work on microservices architecture, build and integrate secure REST APIs, and write robust unit and integration tests.

Main Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of Java backend developers, fostering knowledge sharing and best practices.
• Act as the primary technical contact for the customer and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Ensure high-quality software delivery, balancing new feature development with system stability.
• Take part in hands-on development, including 3rd level support and on-call duty (one week every 5–6 weeks).
• Guide the team in infrastructure, DevOps, and issue resolution activities on AWS.
• Support backlog refinement, sprint planning, and story estimation.
• Represent the team’s work in sprint reviews and technical workshops.
• Drive improvements in code quality, architecture, and use of AI tools for efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 7+ years of professional experience in Java backend development, including at least 2 years in a lead role.
• Strong expertise in Java (≥17), Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, REST API design, SQL.
• Proven experience in Microservices architecture and CleanCode principles.
• Hands-on AWS project experience (≥1 year) with services such as VPC, ECS, Lambda, Aurora, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, SQS/SNS, API Gateway.
• AWS Developer Associate Certification (or higher).
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Highly motivated, pragmatic, and able to take ownership of deliverables.
• Fluent English (C1 preferred, B2 minimum).

Preferred Skills:

• CI/CD with GitLab, Terraform, Clean Architecture, OpenTelemetry.
• Angular (≥16 & Material UI), or Reactive programming with Quarkus, or Backend test automation (at least one required).
• Kafka, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus.
• Agile/Scrum leadership experience; familiarity with GitFlow.
• Experience working in DevOps environments (“You build it, you run it”).
